Typically, societies are established to further charity endeavors like those in the fields of culture, the arts, sports, education, music, and religion. In India, the Society Registration Act establishes certain procedures for the registration and operation of societies.

All businesses that have been founded on the island are obliged by law to register both their employees and their company. After the company and its employees have registered with the Department of Labor Affairs, the company is issued a Proof of Labor registration. Every year, the company's registration needs to be amended.
