The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform serves as a one-stop shop for the online purchase of common goods and services needed by various government agencies, departments, or PSUs (Public Sector Units). To make the outdated public procurement tender procedure by government agencies more transparent, the department of commerce developed the GeM portal. Government agencies and state-owned businesses acquire the goods and services they require from the private sector through public procurement. The GeM site seeks to increase inclusivity while also enhancing efficiency, transparency, and speed in public procurement. For the benefit of government users and buyers, it offers the facilities of reverse e-auction, e-bidding, and demand aggregation.
